She made the decision after recognizing him as a future threat.
I don’t think that she callously betrayed him - if she was merely using Mono, she never would have caught him in the first place, or seemingly agonized over dropping him. Six, in turn, may have dropped Mono because, upon seeing him for the first time without his mask, she realized he will become the Thin Man who had captured her. The Thin Man may have captured Six, and attempted to stop his past self from saving Six, in order to prevent his past self from reaching the Tower and being absorbed by the Cosmic Horror. The Thin Man that pursued Mono was Mono’s future form corrupted by the Cosmic Horror. It appears that there’s a time loop at play here. In other words, while Mono may have broken the Cosmic Horror’s hypnotizing spell over Six (represented by the music box), Six is still a monster, even though she once again looks like a child.īut what happened back at the Tower, where she dropped Mono? The fact Six confronts a “glitched” version of herself at the end, accompanied by hunger pangs, suggests that she is now the monster she reveals herself to be in LN1 - the one who will eat a rat, and then a Nome, and finally the Lady. And I think that when the Signal turns men into monsters, the humanity they leave behind are the Glitched Things. This could explain the existence of the many monsters on the prowl.
It transmitted the Signal that distorted the world, turning men into monsters. Then the Cosmic Horror came to dwell in the Tower. Maybe the world of Little Nightmares was normal, once upon a time. It appears to warp time and space, creating a teleportation loop between doors, and other odd phenomena such as floating furniture. Let’s start with the fleshy monster that pursues you at the end - the one that resembles brain tissue lined with eyeballs. The game also offers possible hints as to the nature of the game’s world, possibly providing a framework to explain this nightmarish reality. She also does not yet have the life absorption powers she obtains at the end of LN1. She obtains her yellow raincoat during LN2. I think Little Nightmares 2 is a prequel story that explains how Six became the monster we witness in Little Nightmares 1. Here’s my current interpretation, with in-game evidence. The camera pans to a poster of The Maw, the setting from the first game.
#LITTLE NIGHTMARES 2 ENDING EXPLAINED TV#
In the true ending, unlocked by finding all of the Glitched Things, we see Six emerge from a TV and stare down a “glitched” version of herself. There, Mono is enveloped by the fleshy monster, and becomes the very Thin Man that had been pursuing them the whole game.
After a long pause, she then drops him into the abyss. She looks at his face, seeing him for the first time without his mask. Here, Six catches Mono after he narrowly misses a jump. Then a fleshy monster pursues our heroes to the tower’s exit. You outwit her and destroy the music box, returning her to normal. She is now a horrific monster, pacified by a music box. Inside, he finds Six, who was captured by the Thin Man. Mono then explores the Tower that is transmitting the Signal. He overpowers the Thin Man in a match of willpower - both Mono and the Thin Man exhibiting control over the Signal that appears to be distorting the world.
In the final chapter of Little Nightmares 2, Mono removes his mask.
